It burns your hands when straining pasta from a boiling pot; because, the steam rises as you are trying to hold it on the pot. Also, I bought this for the purpose of covering food in a microwave; but, there is no mention of a metal rim in the description which it certainly has. When they add metal to their description, someone please reply to this review; and, I will delete it. Thanks.
I just purchased this item for my daughter. I have been using the same splatter screen and like the silicone material, along with the versitility of this diameter. My 11.5 inch splatter screen can be used for 12 inch skillets, as well as 10 inch. It cleans well and works much better than a lid.
